I have this 1901 print called
"Innocence" from the work of Albert
lynch, but have been unable to find
another one on the internet like
it. The upper right hand
corner has the printers name and that it
was printed in Austria.
Lynch specialised in painting female
subjects to which he brought a charming
elegance and sophistication typical of
such
belle epoque paintings. He worked most
often in pastel or watercolour, although
he occasionally used oils, and he
provided
illustrations for two books, 'La Dame
aux Camelias' by Dumas fils and 'La
Parisienne' by Henry Becque. He was made
a Chevalier
de la Legion d'honneur in 1901. Gerald
Schurr describes Lynch's work as: 'd'un
agencement toujours decoratif et d'une
elegance
tres fin de siecle ... il est plus
souple, plus proche des graces
sophistiquees de Helleu dans ses
portraits dont certains, par
la puissance stenographique du trait,
evoquement meme Lautrec.'
He was an illustrator, an American
illustrator. but he's from Peru.
So I thought I would put
it out there on the net just in case
anyone out there knows anything more
about it or just wants to see more
of his work . Contact me if you
want to buy it or know how to restore it
or just want to add some comment here.
